Fortune Favors the Bold May 22, 2008

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
I’ve found these words to be powerful medicine. Sitting around dreaming about what you’d like to do rarely gets you very far towards achieving that dream. Dreams become goals when we boldly commit. Goals are more tangible. Big goals can be broken down into smaller goals. Achieving these smaller goals moves us towards realizing the bigger goal. It’s a simple matter of progression. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Make that first step…declare your dream, and make it your goal. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. Good words from our friend Thoreau.
Not sure ive heard truer words or better advice!!!!!
Make that first step…declare your dream…
Definitely the hardest one, that first one. I’m working on it. Thanks for the reinforcement.
