Right now I am in Isigem, Belgem at the USA Cycling Team house. Many of you know about this house and have experienced living here with the cyclists. Right now it is all just cyclocross racers here for the European Campaign.
Ok, no x-country skiing for me (Pete DID go) today afterall…just a long run and a swim. I’m trying to get in the pool almost everyday now, even if it’s only for 15 minutes to practice my drills. And it’s finally paying off…after being so frustrated that I wanted to cash it in 2 weeks ago and just go back to hammering bad form, I’ve turned a corner with this new catch and timing and just TT’d a 260 at low-tempo pace…and finished about 15 seconds better than my best previous TT - and that was at VO2Max.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog but I’ve been in Italy for the past two weeks and the small towns in Italy are not really known for their internet access. Anyway, we arrived on the third of December into Munich and drove to Sulden. Sulden is a beautiful place and is home to a group of very high mountains knows as the Ortler. I also believe this is Reinhold Messner’s hometown. My training got off to a rough start as I didn’t receive my bags until the following evening and when I did, I discovered that my G.S. boards had been destroyed by United. However, I was able to capitalize on the great powder that Italy’s been getting over the past couple of weeks. I haven’t seen this much snow in Europe in the seven years I’ve been coming here.
Like a well timed gift, I woke up this morning to loud thunder clapping over head at 5:30am. I slept a little longer until my alarm sounded and then rolled out of bed. A quick glance outside and I was doing the Risky Business dance! Snow Day! Snow Day!!! Thank you snow gods, you answered my prayers.
My lovely mom sent me a box filled with Christmas goodies since I’m not going back to the dirty south for Christmas (tear) so I thought it would be “ok” to open up one lil’ gift as a nice surprise heading into my LAST FINAL for the Fall quarter! Well, to my surprise and somewhat shock my dad got me this tee on this epic trip he took with his friend (thanks, Jr. love it!) they thought I’d get a kick out of this shirt… hilarious! Made my day for sure, now to get me another MTB to rip it on naked… kidding.
