Catch ya in December… November 15, 2008

Filed under: Passions — Kristin Keim @ 9:39 pm

I’m burying myself for the next few weeks in some major Grad School work so tune in later to see if I make it out alive when I’m finished with my first Qrt. at JFKU! I’m using tons of my newly learned techniques like relaxation exercises such as Circle Breathing (article by my Professor Tonya Johnston) and Imagery… of me making all A’s on my exams and papers ;-) (another article written by my Professor Karlene Sugarman)

DVD Times November 10, 2008

Filed under: Media, yoga — Sage Rountree @ 11:00 pm

A viewer in Hawaii pointed out that the customizable menu of my DVD doesn’t list the time of each individual segment—information that’s useful when you are pressed for time and trying to fit in a short practice.

Here’s the list:
  1. Centering 1:17
  2. Breath in Space 3:39
  3. Breath in Time 3:17
  4. Six Moves of the Spine 4:43
  5. Half Salutes with Lunges 8:50
  6. Standing Balance Flow 12:02

Ooh Canada Eh? November 9, 2008

Filed under: Just Squawking — Matt Shriver @ 9:00 pm

Every year I have a weekend of racing cyclocross where I rethink my whole cyclocross agenda.  Sometimes I have a hard time getting motivated when it is 40 degrees out and pouring rain.  I am in Toronto right now for some UCI C1 races and the weather has been a bit off.  It was gorgeous all day until about 2:45.  Our race started at 3:00. Thanks mother nature.  It was cold, and the UCI officials were measuring our cross bikes? What for? They do that for time trials, but cross races? Anyone have some insight here.  I think ALL cross bikes are going to be over the weight limit, if not, the bike would snap like a twig.  It was a bit strange.

Haywood awarded damages for losing Olympic nomination

American mountain bike racer Susan Haywood was awarded over $300,000 in damages by a US Federal Judge on Thursday for being unfairly being removed from the USA Olympic team in 2004.

Haywood was originally nominated to the US team by USA Cycling, but an appeal launched by fellow competitor Mary McConneloug overturned the nomination.

Core By The Cord

Filed under: Fun — Chet Collins, DC @ 2:15 pm

Core Stabilization and Strengthening has been a hot topic in fitness for some time. I have developed the  revolutionary Core By The Cord Program. This is a core strengthening program for those on a budget, and blends well into your fall and winter cross training schedule.

To begin, ask around for names of elderly or disabled persons that use wood to heat their homes. Contact them to request their support in allowing you to stack their firewood as it arrives at their home for free. They save money, you get a workout.
