What’s going on? October 27, 2008
So much has been happeningin the past month. I have been completely missing in action from posting updates. Taking a little bit of a break before jumping back into it full on. Right now I am juggling my Cyclocross season, trying to get on a road team for next season, and then the thought of actually hanging it up.
I officially began my cross season last weekend with the Granogue and Wissahickon races in Delaware and Pennsylvania. I did do Cross Vegas and had a good go at the race, finishing 11th, but it wasn’t ideal preparation. I received my bikes about 2 hours before the start, did a couple hot laps. Then raced. Not to bad of a result for not being on the cross bike since Nationals in December of last year. Granogue went good, but I could tell that the racing fitness was low. I have been riding, but not really training. I am sticking with my plan though to try to have a good ride at Nationals in December. My other crazy thought is to even give Cross Worlds a go if I have a good season. That will be a one race at a time see how my season is going, and go from there.
The thought of going to worlds depends on what is happening next season. As of right now, I have no contract for the road in 2009. Freaking out about it would have been an understatement about a month ago, but at this point, I have embraced it and know that only a small part of it is actually in my control. I am not ready to be done racing and feel like I am just figuring this sport out. Who knows? I am hoping that things come together in the next couple weeks.
Here I am in Kentucky, chasing the next shot at some points so I can have a good race at Nationals. It is all about points. Get as many points as you can. If I am going to try to have a shot at worlds, well I have to actually train a bit harder and step up my racing. Today is the first round of the USGP’s here in Louisville, Kentucky. Hopefully I can step it up a bit. I will keep you posted.
Good Luck with your Cross season and the job search… it will all pan out, keep the faith!
