Matthias Giraud’s News of the Week: Jesse Hall July 10, 2008
Hello everyone,
This is my first post for Are you living it? Got an email from James a few weeks back asking if I wanted to post some stuff on the website and my answer was of course “YES”! This is a cool website for outdoor freaks and active people which is what I am all about. Anyway, to start with something cool, I wanted to dedicate this first post to Jesse Hall. Jesse is a freak of nature. He won the US Extreme Freeskiing Championships in Crested Butte in 2005, was national champion in 2005 as well and placed in tons of big mountain skiing events. But, Jesse is also a sick BASE jumper. In fact, Jesse is my BASE mentor.
To get into BASE jumping, you need some skydiving experience and a mentor. I asked Jesse if he didn’t mind teaching me his knowledge and last thing I know we are jumping off the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, ID and doing 200 ft gainers by the end of the day.
So, I figured I would share some of Jesse’s footage with the rest of the world. This video is called Desert Solitude. You can see Jesse and his buddies Niel Amonson and Richard Alexander jumping off some HUGE walls in the Utah Desert with wingsuits.

This is absolutely amazing and surreal. My heart was beating fast just watching this video. I can’t imagine what could be more exhilarating.
That is insane. How do you get a hold of one of those suits anyways?
You can get a hold of these suits very easily. There are several brands: Fly Your Body, Phoenix Fly, Birdman to name only a few.
what about beers in the garage on sunridge lane after riding raiders ridge with some of the best snow we have seen in a decade? You so need to call me. Sick f*#@ing jump. Sorry I wasn’t there to get your poles. pete
