Runner’s High September 13, 2008

Filed under: Passions, Running — Kristin Keim @ 11:58 am

This morning I woke up and got all fueled up not for a long ride out to Golden and some climbing up Lookout Mountain but for a LONG run in my new kicks around the lovely parks of Denver, CO. It was a very successful run and now I’m actually picking my pace up too! No more k2 jogging but back on track to actually running and feeling stronger and faster each time I hit the pavement or trails. Today I put in my longest run in a year, I have no clue my mileage or pace and could care less (for now) it’s all about pushing my mind and body and being in the moment… free.

I hit the 1:50:00 mark and would’ve gone longer but I figured it best to end on a good note and if I went any longer… walking tomorrow might hurt just a bit. hahaha I spent the last 10mins walking my legs out and stretching. It was such a rush to run that long and to know I’m getting faster each day, whoo hoo! Tomorrow I’ll ride for cross training, hahaha ;-)

I gave in to the endorphins and became victim of the k2 runner’s high, bliss…

Here are some amazing quotes that explain exactly how I feel about my new found passion, enjoy.

“I always loved running… it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs.” ~Jesse Owens

“There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year, years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child, an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant to be.” ~George Sheehan
