China Camp August 30, 2008

Nice little mtb ride in China Camp State Park today.  It’s about a 45 minute drive up 101 from where I live in San Fran…  several miles past the Marin Headlands, just northeast of San Rafael:

Thirteen miles of very easy singletrack, a little too easy actually (finally feeling better after a week of thinking I was getting sick, and really wanted to sweat it all out), but it was a phenomenal day with relatively little traffic on the trails so I have no complaints.

Starvation Mountain August 29, 2008

On Saturday Ryan, Seth and I headed out for a ride up Starvation Mountain off Highway 20 in the Methow. For those not familiar with the area it is home to some of the most amazing cross-country riding and the valley is a thing to behold on its own.

We were camping on our property near Winthrop and Saturday morning we loaded up in the Red TDI and headed up to the trail just outside of Twisp.  Ryan was driving and keeping us entertained.  As has been mentioned before Ryan keeps himself fit (that is an understatement).  So Seth and I were a bit nervous as to what might be in store for us….

The things we do for love (of the river)… August 6, 2008

Another summer and another chance to raft down Westwater Canyon on the Colorado River.  Lying in Utah South of I-70 and between the north-eastern Utah/Colorado border and the town of Moab, some say it is the biggest water in the state.  It’s usually done as an overnighter by rafters but can be done in one day or less by kayakers.

I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow the house down! July 25, 2008

This morning I woke up to the sound of several loudly whispered expletives and Ryan using a floor pump on his tires, then the gushing noise of air traveling too quickly more expletives and repeat. “You’ve got to be f*(&&**(ing kidding me!” This happened 4 times.

All right, it is already time for the second post of the week. Here is the trailer of the new documentary produced by ABC reporters Dan Barth and Chase Ogden. It is called “That Beautiful Moment” and is based on the human story and adventure of the Engineer Mountain ski BASE jump which was a 4 year project. Stay posted for the movie release sometime in Spring 2009!

Weekend Punishment July 7, 2008

My husband attempted to kill me this weekend. And he came mighty close, to be honest. I still can’t walk normally.

Let me back up a bit.

Since we had a long weekend with the 4th falling on a Friday, Ryan canceled his plans to trek to Horne Lake on Vancouver Island and instead booked the weekend with me at our cabin in Mazama. He decided to take me up the South Early Winter Spire on a moderate yet classic route.

Rollin’ on a River

Filed under: Fun, River sports — Live Your Passion Team @ 11:13 am

The holiday weekend was great. Couple solid bike outings (including a PR by two minutes on the Dry Fork Loop with pal Jason Hooten), a good run, a few bbq’s, plus some downtown fireworks. Capped it all off with a little bit of whitewater on the Animas yesterday with world famous river guide Sean Larmore and crew. Below are some shots of us trying to make the weekend last. Thanks to Laurel, Kasey, Amber, Jonesy, Christina, and of course Sean, for all the laughs (the term “stern” was used a few too many times) and the innumerable “safety briefings” for this river newbie.

Pacific Crest! July 1, 2008

Filed under: Fun, Triathlon — Live Your Passion Team @ 6:18 am

What a great time we had at the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival in Sunriver, Oregon!  The weekend featured several triathlon and duathlon events, plus a 5K, a 10K, and some races for kids.  Several thousand people from all over the country were in attendance.  In addition, the LYP team had a booth in the vendor Expo located in the central plaza.  Here are a couple shots of the booth and our efforts to change peoples lives with our t-shirts:
